Honeybees face towering threat from mobiles

beeRadiation from transmitters wipes out bee colonies which will affect food production: Study

by VR Jayaraj | Kochi

Studies in Kerala have brought out evidence to support the theory of colony collapse disorder (CCD) among honeybees due to bioactive microwave radiation from mobile phones and their relay towers, which leads to extensive disappearance of entire worker bee colonies. This could result in disruption in food production because most of the crops depend on bees for pollination.

Although the theory of mobile towers leading to CCD is yet to be proved anywhere in the world, experts say this is highly possible and the phenomenon could cause unimaginable food troubles to most Indian States, especially Kerala which is already food-scarce. The State has the highest density of mobile towers.

The phenomenon of (suspected) mobile tower-induced CCD and resultant crop loss were first noticed in the US several years ago, but this had spread to most European countries by 2007. Now, experiments by Sainuddeen Pattazhy, a researcher and dean in the department of zoology at SN College, Punalur, Kerala, have found that worker bees fail to return to their hives when their navigation skills are interfered by the mobile microwaves.

Sainuddeen had conducted his experiments by placing mobile phones near beehives (as some scientists in the West had done earlier). He found that these hives collapsed totally in five to 10 days with the worker bees failing to return to their homes, leaving the hives with the queens, eggs and immature bees. The vanished bees were never found, but the assumption was that they died singly far from home. The parasites, wildlife and other bees that normally raid the honey and pollen left behind when a colony dies, refuse to go anywhere near the abandoned hives.

“The navigation skill of the worker bees is dependent on the earth’s magnetic properties. The electro-magnetic waves emitted by the mobile phones and relay towers interfere with the earth’s magnetism, resulting in the loss of the navigation capacity of the bee. Then it fails to come back. Also, the radiation causes damage to the nervous system of the bee and it becomes unable to fly,” said Sainuddeen.

The researcher had earlier led a study on the impact of mobile phones and towers on ecology, in which other environmentalists had participated. The study revealed that bioactive radiations from mobile towers threatened the very existence of home sparrow, which lived in colonies close to human habitats, even in crowded cities.

Pattazhy, however, is not the first scientist to notice the phenomenon of CCD occurring in bees due to mobile phone-tower proximity. A limited study at Landau University in 2007, headed by Dr Jochen Kuhn, had found that bees refused to return to their hives when mobile phones were placed nearby. As back as in late 1990s, a researcher, George Carlo, had headed a massive study sponsored by the US Government and the mobile phone industry in America, had said, “I am convinced that the possibility is real.”

Apiarists in Idukki, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta and Wayanad districts confirm that they have been noticing the massive play of CCD for the past four or five years, but they have never thought of the relation between mobile tower-induced radiations and their bees.

A beekeeper in Thodupuzha, Idukki said he had lost 13 of his 17 hives in the past three years. Three years ago, three mobile towers were erected on the hillock near his farm.

“But I have never thought of the relation. I, like other farmers, was thinking that climatic changes and pesticides used in the rubber plantations were the reason,” he said.

Scientists warn that Kerala, which already has a large number of mobiles and towers, could face not just CCD-created hive losses but even a crop disaster if the mobile craze continues to grow.

“Honeybees can be wiped out in Kerala and many other Indian States and cities if there is no system to control the unscientific increase in the use of mobile phones. It can in turn lead to a disaster in the food front as bees are responsible for pollination in most of the food crops,” said a biotechnologist at a Coimbatore college.

Class Action Suit Against CLEAR WI-MAX. Technology Threatens Health of Everyone

Join the Class Action Suit Against CLEAR WI-MAX. Technology Threatens Health of Everyone

Could Dow Chemical set up a plant in downtown Portland? Well, Wi-Max technology is wi fi on steroids that will blast every portlander in our homes whether we subscribe to it or not and this technology is at least 3x’s as harsh as the average cell tower. They must be stopped or the genetic integrity of our children may be at risk. Thousands of studies worldwide (not one ongoing study in the u.s.!!) confirm that this unregulated technology poses a devastating health risk that some scientists predict will overtake tobacco and asbestos combined. Check out Bioinitiative Report and www.wirelesswatchblog.com

Where does it begin and where does it end?

If you would like to know more about this, write to  oregonskywatch@gmail.com and check out the site: www.wirelesswatchblog.com We are organizing a class action suit against the company and the Mayor and City Council for allowing this to be set up here.

Wi-fi faces health concerns

The mobile telephone industry spent many years – and millions of dollars – fighting charges that wireless handsets could cause brain cancer. Now it looks like the budding wi-fi movement could face its own legal crisis with lawsuits alleging that 802.11 networks can cause similar physical problems.

A few families in the Chicago suburb of Oak Park, Illinois, have filed a class-action lawsuit against Oak Park Elementary School’s District 97. They assert that wireless local-area networks (WLAN) in the school buildings expose their children to potential harm. Their suit points to a “substantial body of evidence that high frequency electro-magnetic radiation poses substantial and serious health risks, particularly to growing children.” The suit does not seek financial damages, but an end to the use of wi-fi in the neighborhood’s schools.

The Wi-Fi Alliance, an industry group with members including Intel, Microsoft, Philips, and IBM, is aware of the suit, and says it will continue to pay attention to developments. “It’s natural when you hear about litigation for people to take notice,” says Alliance chairman Dennis Eaton. “Members are sensitive to the amount of time and effort that might have to be spent defending themselves.”

The small suit could have big ramifications, particularly with wi-fi vendors. Global sales of 802.11 networks reached almost $1.3 billion through the first three quarters of this year, according to market research firm Dell’Oro Group. Tens of millions of people use the technology now, and the company predicts that the number will grow to 707 million by 2008, says Pyramid Research.

Furthermore, as public hotspots invade hotels, airports, and coffee shops, an enormous number of people could claim to be adversely and unknowingly affected by WLANs. That is a key point of the lawsuit. “We have not established a level that can be considered safe or even tolerably safe,” says Ron Baiman, one of the parents who filed the lawsuit. “Our thinking is that it is certainly prudent at this point not to use these in public schools.”

CONSENSUS STATEMENT ON ELECTROMAGNETIC RADIATION — DRAFT

[Rachel's introduction: The Collaborative on Health and the Environment (CHE) has been building consensus on the need for precautionary measures to avert harm from electromagnetic radiation. Here is their draft statement.]

We, the undersigned, are members of the CHE-EMF Working Group within the Collaborative on Health and the Environment (CHE), together with like-minded colleagues from science, medicine and environmental health.

We believe there are legitimate health concerns regarding exposure to radiofrequency electromagnetic radiation (EMR), which has rapidly become one of the most pervasive environmental exposures in modern life. These concerns are based on the weight of evidence spanning decades of scientific research on radiofrequency (RF) radiation from countries around the world. The radiofrequency radiation sources addressed in this Consensus Statement are those from newer wireless technologies such as cell phones and cordless phones, cell towers/antennas, WI-FI networks, WI-MAX, as well as Broadband Radiofrequency Internet over electrical power lines (BPL).

We recognize that there are significant uncertainties about the long- term health effects of exposure to radiofrequency radiation. However, prudent policy requires acting on the best available scientific evidence. Then, based on the Precautionary Principle, which is an overarching guide for decision making when dealing with credible threats of harm and scientific uncertainty, policies to protect public health can be adopted.

As a way of implementing the Precautionary Principle, there should be an ongoing investment in research, as well as funding for a transparent, participatory policy analysis of alternatives, when there is reason to believe that there may be a significant risk from current or proposed technologies. The principle states that “when an activity raises threats of harm to the environment or human health, precautionary measures should be taken even if some cause-and-effect relationships are not fully established scientifically.” These precautionary measures may include but are not necessarily limited to making investments in research and policy analysis. We are deeply concerned that there is insufficient non-industry funding support for critical research, given the potential public health consequences of involuntary and chronic exposure to radiofrequency radiation.

The following four examples show how the Precautionary Principle has been implemented.

* Scientists in the United Kingdom recommend that no child under the age of 8 years old use a cell phone. Research evidence shows that children are more vulnerable than adults to harm from other environmental exposures (such as chemicals), and the same may be true of radiofrequency radiation exposures.

* The International Association of Fire Fighters passed a resolution in 2004, calling for a moratorium on new cell phone antennas on fire stations and a study of the health effects of these installations. The Chairman of the Russian National Committee for Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (RNCNIRP), Yuri Grigoriev, advised that cellular communication is strongly contraindicated for children and teenagers. The Canadian Public Health Officer, David Butler-Jones, advised Canadians to limit their and their children’s use of cell phones until science resolves uncertainties about long-term health effects.

* More research is needed on the health/biological effects, the level of current and future exposure, and the feasibility, cost and exposure implications of these technologies, as well as alternatives and modifications to current technology.

* While research continues, we believe there is sufficient evidence to recommend precautionary measures that people can take to protect their health, and the health of their families, co-workers and communities. We recommend the following measures:

Use a corded phone/land line if possible, which does not involve RF exposure. Emergency use of cell phones is not discouraged but land lines should be used for normal day-to-day communication needs.

If you use a cell phone, use an earpiece/headset or the “speaker phone” setting, which greatly reduces the RF exposure because the phone is not held next to your head and brain. Using text messaging is also a good way to reduce RF exposure.

Be aware that the cell phone radiates to some degree even when in “standby” mode. You can avoid this radiation by either keeping the phone off (using it as an answering machine), or away from your body.

Using a cordless phone outdoors to alert you to an incoming call is handy, but returning inside to use a corded phone/land line to conduct the conversation is advisable.

Before adopting WI-FI wireless networks in workplaces, schools and cities, the extent of exposure and possible health effects should be publicly discussed. Although convenient, WI-FI wireless networks create pervasive, continuous, involuntary exposure to radiofrequency radiation. Preferable alternatives to wireless technology for voice and data transmission, including cable and fiber-optic technologies (that produce no radiofrequency radiation), should be considered, given the uncertainties about health, cost, liability, and inequity of impact.

There needs to be substantial community involvement in decisions about the placement and operation of cell towers (also called antennas or masts). Where possible, siting of these facilities should avoid residential areas and schools, day-care centers, hospitals and other buildings that house populations more vulnerable to the effects of radiation exposure. Periodic information on levels of exposure should be provided to the public. Cell towers produce radiofrequency radiation exposure in communities that is constant and involuntary. While acknowledging that this technology enables voice and data transmission via a cell phone that is important to many people in every community, those who live, work or go to school in the vicinity of wireless facilities will be disproportionately exposed. Not enough research has been done to determine the safety or risk of chronic exposure to low-intensity RF radiation from cell towers and some studies suggest there may be harm.

Broadband Radiofrequency Internet transmitted over electrical power lines (BPL) needs to be thoroughly researched and the findings publicly disclosed and discussed before full deployment of this new technology. Discussion should include comparison of exposures and potential health effects of BPL technology versus cable and fiber optics. BPL technology uses electrical wiring as the vehicle for carrying RF radiation into and throughout all electrified buildings in a community, including every home. Therefore, BPL has the potential to expose entire communities to a new, continuous, involuntary source of RF radiation. The RF signal will be carried on everyone’s home wiring, even in the homes of those who do not wish to subscribe to this new Internet service. People will have no chance to “opt out” or turn off the signal.

In summary, we recommend caution in the further deployment of wireless technologies, and deployment of safer, wired alternatives until further study allows better definition of the risks of wireless.

See below for international resolutions urging precaution with wireless technologies.

International Resolutions Advocating a Precautionary Approach to the Use and Expansion of Wireless Technologies

Scientists and public policy researchers across the globe have acknowledged the evidence of potential health effects from radiofrequency radiation and advocated a precautionary approach to the use and expansion of wireless technologies. For example:

October 1998, scientists adopt the Vienna Resolution, which states that “biological effects from low intensity [RFR] exposures are scientifically established.”

June 2000, scientists adopt the Salzburg Resolution, stating “the assessment of biological effects of exposures from base stations in the low-dose range is difficult but indispensable for protection of public health…there is at present evidence of no threshold for adverse health effects.” In other words, there is no threshold for safe exposure.

May 2000, the UK Independent Expert Group on Mobile Phones chaired by Sir William Stewart, reports that “a precautionary approach be adopted until more robust scientific information becomes available.” [Read the "Stewart Report" here.]

September 2002, scientists at the International Conference “State of the Research on Electromagnetic Fields Scientific and Legal Issues” held in Catania, Italy, adopt the Catania Resolution, calling for “preventive strategies based on the precautionary principle.”

November 2004, the European Union’s EMF REFLEX Research Project is released [11 Mbyte PDF], showing that mobile phone radiation (radiofrequency radiation) damages DNA in human cells. [Read a commentary by Dr. Lennart Hardell here.]

In January 2005, the UK National Radiation Protection Board issues a warning that no child under age 8 should use a cell phone, citing the growing scientific evidence that exposure to RFR poses a health risk. The report also cautions about the health risks of exposure to cell phone antennas (referred to as “base stations): “…there remain particular concerns in the UK about the impact of base stations on health, including well-being. Despite current evidence which shows that exposures of individuals are likely to be only a small fraction of those from phones, they may impact adversely on well-being.”

In February 2005, the Irish Doctors Environmental Association (IDEA) issues a statement urging that “the strictest possible safety regulations be established for the installation of masts and transmitters, and for the acceptable levels of potential exposure of individuals to electromagnetic radiation.”

In September 2006, the International Commission for Electromagnetic Safety (ICEMS) releases the Benevento Resolution, which emphasizes that the accumulated evidence points to “adverse health effects from occupational and public exposures to electric, magnetic and electromagnetic fields (EMF) at current exposure levels.” Signed by 31 leading scientists from around the world, this resolution calls for governments to “adopt guidelines for public and occupational EMF exposure that reflect the Precautionary Principle.”

Residents of the View Park/Windsor Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles won an important victory at the Los Angeles Regional Planning Commission on February 18 (see article from LA Daily News below). While T-Mobile can still appeal to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors the 3-2 vote to deny a permit for a wireless facility proposed for the rooftop garage on a building hosting a CVS pharmacy, the victory is particularly significant because it marks the debut of a regional Southern California coalition, Residents Engaged Against Cell Towers (REACT), who successfully mobilized for the Feb. 18 hearing.microwave-tower-golden-sky

Organizations involved in this regional coalition include residents from Los Angeles, San Diego, Glendale, Pasadena, Tarzana, Burbank, Mar Vista, Altadena, Baldwin Hills Estates, Sherman Oaks, Ladera Heights, Scripps Ranch, Hacienda Heights, Oceanside, Carlsbad, Mission Viejo, Irvine, Rancho Santa Fe, and Escondido.

Along with the Coalition to Regulate Antennae Siting ( www.safeantenna.org ) in New York City, Southern California is one of the current hotbeds of activity on this issue working to take the fight to the national level.

This story may make you consider giving up milk altogether. The story mentions ‘using clean electrical energy from the grid’, well good luck with that far fetched idea! There would also be a big question mark about the cleanliness of the energy as it leaves the site, and a very good chance that dangerous high frequency pollution will be caused around the farm. We know that microwaving food damages the quality and goodness, what will it do to the milk?

Wi-Fi in School

I had a conversation with the parent representative to the French school board (CSF) today – a fellow parent at my children’s school – she told me that the CSF was going to ask Health Canada and the BC Worker’s Compensation Board to do some of it’s own research on EMR from Wi -Fi. We had an exchange – she said that it was not the CSF’s job to set safety limits. Below is my response to an email she sent out earlier this evening. By the way, she is a doctor.

To:
XXXXXXXXX, I do appreciate your proactive activity around this. With respect to your comment this afternoon, you are absolutely correct that it is not CSF’s job to establish safety limits, but it should be its first priority to ensure the safety of all of the children in its care. And ANY doubt should be decided for the benefit of the students. Health Canada has NEVER effectively responded to an emerging health threat – tobacco? Asbestos?.

If you watched the BBC Panorama show (Wi -Fi: A Warning Signal), you would have heard Sir William Stewart, U.K.’s top scientist saying the the WHO (OSM) is wrong – that the whole basis of their safety limits are inadequate to protect the population, especially our children. Same for the German government who has warned all citizens not to use Wi -Fi. Is that not telling? Or Gerd Oberfeld and Henry Lai, who are world reknowned for their research into electromagnetic radiation and biological effects – they both said they would pull their children out of any school that had Wi-Fi. And Olle Johansson of the Karolinska institute in Sweden has found biological effects at radiation levels lower than Wi -Fi. If you have not watched it, here is the link to the show:
http://www.mastsanity.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=132&Itemid=113

In 2002, Lloyds of London and the entire insurance industry excluded health effects from electromagnetic radiation from all liability policies for the wireless industry. This was in response to the work that Dr. George Carlo did with the Wireless Telecommunications Research program from 1993 to 1999 (300 scientists, 28.5 million dollars). Interestingly, the insurance industry has known about and responded to emerging health threats in exactly this manner. They did exactly the same thing for the tobacco industry while tobacco execs continued to say there were no health effects from smoking.

We do not need any more short term epidemiological studies. A two or three year study will not answer the question of what may or will happen after ten or fifteen years – the time it takes for cancerous tumours to present. We now know with certainty, that radiation from Wi-Fi, cellular and cordless home phones cause leakage in the blood brain barrier, breakage of DNA, interruption of intra-cellular communication, and changes in cognitive function (the Stewart Report, 2000).

This is not a “maybe, we need more data” situation. If you don’t believe me, please look at the truly “independent” double blind, peer reviewed research (in other words, not funded by the wireless industry).

We MUST apply the precautionary principle because there is so much evidence (not doubt, evidence). In my opinion, anything less is absolutely reckless.
Respectfully,
Carl Katz

Maternal occupational exposure to extremely low frequency magnetic fields and the risk of brain cancer in the offspring. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19224378 Li P, McLaughlin J, Infante-Rivard C. Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health, Faculty of Medicine, McGill University, 1110 Pine Avenue West, Montreal, QC, H3A 1A3, Canada.

OBJECTIVES: To examine the contribution of maternal occupational exposure to extremely low frequency magnetic fields (ELF-MF) shortly before and during
pregnancy on the incidence of childhood brain tumors.

METHODS: A total of 548 incident cases and 760 healthy controls recruited between 1980 and 2002 from two Canadian provinces (Quebec and Ontario) were
included in this study, and their mothers were interviewed. Quantitative occupational ELF-MF exposure in microTesla units was estimated using individual exposure estimations or a job exposure matrix. We used three metrics to analyze exposure: cumulative, average, and maximum level attained.

RESULTS: Using the average exposure metric measured before conception, an increased risk was observed for astroglial tumors (OR = 1.5, 95% CI = 1.0-2.4).

During the entire pregnancy period, a significantly increased risk was observed for astroglial tumors as well as for all childhood brain tumors with the average metric
(OR = 1.6, 95% CI = 1.1-2.5 and OR = 1.5, 95% CI = 1.1-2.2, respectively). Based on job titles, a twofold risk increase was observed for astroglial tumors (OR = 2.3, 95% CI = 0.8-6.3) and for all childhood brain tumors (OR = 2.3, 95% CI = 1.0-5.4) among sewing machine operators.

CONCLUSIONS: Results are suggestive of a possible association between
maternal occupational ELF-MF exposure and certain brain tumors in their offspring. PMID: 19224378

Radiating the Planet

Radiating the Planet

… Here is my comment:
I am astounded at the level of ignorance there is around this issue. Health effects resulting from mobile phone microwave transmission towers have been an issue since the 80′s when towers started to proliferate. In 1996, the telecom act removed citizens right to object to a tower based on health effects. This is all about money – for the telecoms and for the schools that are allowing this to happen. Is this what we have come to, selling out our children’s health for money?

Parents, you MUST fight this for the sake of your childrens health
. There is enough evidence to warrant applying “the precautionary principal” (google it).  Also google “The Freiburger Appeal” – 3000 German doctors speaking out against the dangers of overexposure to microwave radiation.

Do your research – there are many studies that have been completed about cell towers.
The studies are not “voodoo science” as Stacy Frank would want you to believe.

Effects of my hidden dental metals

As background to my own experience (Shivani Arjuna), please note the comments of Dr. Klinghardt, founder of The Institute for Neurobiology in Seattle, Wa, an expert in the health consequences of electromagnetic fields and  a leading educator for physicians in U.S. and Europe.

“Some of us (and I am part of that group of physicians) believe that electromagnetic radiation and its deep biological effects in the body are affecting everybody. It is just a matter of degree and of quantity. We do know from research, from Dr. Amora in NY, that there is a synergistic effect between heavy metals deposited in the central nervous system from, for example mercury or lead toxity, and electromagnetic fields.”

“Metals stored in the central nervous system act like an antennae that concentrate electromagnetic fields in the central nervous system and then the effects of that are more devastating than in people that have a clean central nervous system.  That is pretty firmly established.  However who becomes toxic with heavy metals also involves a genetic component.  There are people that have impaired enzymes of detoxification very often caused not necessarily by increased exposure toxic metals, but by defective genes. That number of people is going up tremendously. That is true of most austic children and most children of behavioral problems and so forth.  That number is closer now to 20-25% of the population.”

Dr. Klinghardt states that it is “more like 8% of the population that is aware they are hypersensitive to electromagnetic fields. The other 92% is easily affected, but in a more quiet way and may not know that the breast cancer is coming from the exposure to nightime electromagnetic fields in the home or that their hormonal problems or low testosterone is caused by the ambient electrical fields at home.

The patient with ALS or MS may not be aware that the silently creeping advancement of the illness is greatly contributed to by the electromagnetic fields of the home. So you really have a distinct line between where
the symptoms are obviously caused by electrosmog and where it may be more clandestine, more hidden where the symtoms are caused by electromagnetic fields in a more silent way.”  [BTW, we know someone who was diagnosed with ALS whose symptoms were reversed when he learned to avoid exposure to harmful electromagnetic frequencies. -Shivani]

You can hear the interview with Dr. Klinghardt by clicking on the link to it at:
http://electromagnetichealth.org/audio-archives-and-more/.

Several other excellent interviews are also posted there.

Here’s the info. about my own recent experience.

Even dentists who are aware that mercury is toxic use other metals they believe to be safe, which are not. Many of us have such dental metals that we are not even aware of, as they are not visible to us.

Some non-mercury composite filling materials contain metal oxides as colorant.  This metal may leach into your body. Its presence in a tooth has an energy effect on your body.  In addition, even your holistic dentist may have
added a metal pin or two when filling a tooth, with the purpose of stabilizing a large filling.

I recently discovered that I have titanium pins screwed into several of my teeth.  (Once in, a surrounding, opaque metal-oxide filling makes them impossible to see, even in x-rays.)  “Oh, they are completely nontoxic,” I was told
by the office of the dentist who had put them in with all good intentions. That they are wonderful receiving antennae simply did not occur to him.

Dr. Douglas Cook of Suring, WI is part of a research program that enables him to use electrodermal testing with the tolerance, if not the blessing, of the FDA.  The testing involves sending an electrical current to a specific tooth or area of the jaw.   If the system is in balance, the body returns an equal flow of current.  Where imbalance is present, the return flow will be weak.

This testing indicated a problem with a tooth of mine that had become extremely sensitive to touch or any temperature change.   I was also experiencing inexplicable deterioration of vision in the eye just above that tooth, compared to my other eye, so I decided to have Dr. Cook remove the old filling material, which was the kind with some metal in it.   He discovered that there was also a titanium pin screwed down into the base of the tooth.   Within 24 hours of his removing the pin and the old filling, the vision in my eye improved. Previously, I had not been able to read with that eye alone.  Now I can.

What really knocked my proverbial socks off, though, was the realization about a week later that chronic, inexplicable, very disconcerting spasms of a particular spot in my intestines, on the same side of the body as that tooth, had stopped occurring.

These spasms had begun several years ago, during a time when I experienced a general health collapse that later turned out to be directly related to my exposure to “dirty electricity.“   (Health-damaging frequencies being delivered to our homes along with our 60Hz.  These higher frequencies, are biologically active in a very detrimental way, causing a wide range of neurological, cardiac, respiratory, dermatological, ophthalmologic and other symptoms.

At the time of my collapse and through the first months of my recovery as we cleared our home of more and more of this invisible pollution, I was a walking detector of dirty electricity.   If I went near a hidden source, such as a
computer behind a wall in an office suite, I’d instantly have intestinal spasms.   My more severe sympoms cleared up after we were able to bring the level of electrical pollution down in our home.  However, perhaps due to the fact that our electrical neutral is overloaded, we have never been able to bring the level of electrical pollution down to 20 GS (Graham Stetzer) units, the level at which symptoms are rarely triggered, these spasms remained chronic.   If I received much exposure during the day, particularly if I had visited an area away from home where I was exposed to a higher level of electrical pollution or communications frequencies, I’d have a lot of spasms that night and be unable to sleep.

What was so disconcerting about these spasms was that they were so intense they shook my chest area, thud! thud! thud! with a sensation remarkably similar to what I’d experienced when I had had preatrial cardiac syndrome before
we had become educated abut electrical pollution and mitigated our house. I had experienced such severe cardiac symptoms on two occasions that I had been rushed to the ER by ambulance.  So, for the past several years, every time my gut would spasm I’d tense up, due to a post-traumatic stress reaction.

We are talking about several years of these spasms, and many things tried in hopes of stopping them, to no avail.    Because of a tiny titanium pin and/or a bit of metal oxide.

A third change that occurred within days of the pin  being removed was the disappearance of a good-sized senile keratosis that had been on my shoulder near the tooth with the pin in it.  It happens that I had had my doctor look at
that, to see if it might be carcinogenic, so this is also a matter of my medical record.

A fourth change, noted a few weeks after removal of the composite and the pin, is that though I had been experiencing chronic and severe nightly cramping of the calf and foot on the side of my body where the pin was located, these cramps are now both infrequent and of greatly reduced severity.

Now I have noticed yet a 5th change, which is that I no longer have the chronic runny nose that had bothered me for years.

All of this, of course, may be argued to be mere coincidence. However, if this were your own experience, what would you conclude?

Medical Director takes a stand … hazards of electromagnetic pollution

February 10, 2009

Dr. Thomas Rau, Medical Director of the world renowned Paracelsus Clinic in Lustmühle, Switzerland says he is convinced ‘electromagnetic loads’ lead to cancer, concentration problems, ADD, tinnitus, migraines, insomnia, arrhythmia, Parkinson’s and even back pain.

At Paracelsus (www.paracelsus.ch), cancer patients are now routinely educated in electromagnetic field remediation strategies and inspectors from the Geopathological Institute of Switzerland are sent to patients’ homes to assess electromagnetic field exposures.

Of note, Dr. Rau says a strategy to consider for those experiencing ‘electrical sensitivity’ symptoms is to remove the electromagnetic ‘hot spot’ in the head created by the presence of metal fillings. Concern is thus not only for the ‘neurotoxic’ aspect of mercury in fillings, an increasingly understood hazard, but because fillings themselves act as antennas in the presence of electromagnetic fields from cell phones and cell towers, wi-fi networks, portable phones, and other sources of radiofrequency radiation.

Rau says the removal of dental fillings can be an important early step in reducing electrical sensitivity, allowing some people to live in homes they otherwise could not tolerate.

Cultures have shown beneficial bacteria grows more slowly in the presence of electromagnetic fields, says Rau, allowing pathological organisms to dominate. Thus, a strategy with electrically sensitive patients, or with those facing chronic conditions, is the aggressive supplementation with probiotics and other Biological Medicine approaches to balance intestinal flora. Many people with chronic infections likely linked to EMF exposures, such as Lyme Disease, are symptom- free after an aggressive microorganism rebalancing program.

Electrical sensitivity—originally known as radio wave sickness—is a sometimes debilitating experience created by these and other disregulating effects of electromagnetic fields. Linked to many acute and chronic illness conditions, electrical sensitivity is a serious emerging public health issue globally and a subject in which most doctors have no training.

A Petition to Congress, created by  www.ElectromagneticHealth.org is now circulating on the internet, requesting Congress

1) mandate the FCC lower exposure guidelines to reflect the large body of science showing biological effects at exposures much lower than current standards,

2) repeal Section 704 of the Telecommunications Act of 1996, which rescinded state and local governments right to resist towers on health or environmental grounds,

3) stop the roll out of the Wi-Max network until Congress better understands the potential health consequences, and

4) accommodate citizens unable to function adequately in high EMF environments, including forbidding cell towers on school properties.

Exposing children in schools to radiation, known to impair brain function and learning, Rau describes as “criminal”. He says, “It is unethical to expose children to electromagnetic load in this way. We know that power stations for electromagnetic waves like mobile phones are hurting the brains of children, so to put such stations into schools is really…very, very, very bad. Rau says, the question is, “Does the school, or does the society, really want to have intelligent, well-educated children, or not?”

He says, “If you install mobile phone towers, which radiate to the children, their intelligence, their brain capacity, decreases. You will have more ADD children, you will have less function of the brain, which in the long term reflects on the intelligence of the children, of the possibility to really teach children, and in the long term, the more this overcomes society, the more we will have dumb children.”

The reality of the health consequences of electromagnetic radiation eventually will have to be faced, and this will only happen with active pressure on Congress. It is estimated that 3-8% of populations in developed countries experience serious electrohypersensitivity symptoms today, and 35% experience mild symptoms. With increasing electromagnetic field exposures, these numbers, along with the suffering involved for people who are impacted, and the health care costs involved, are bound to go up.

The Dangers of Cell Phone Use and Cell Phone Radiation

The Dangers of Cell Phone Use and Cell Phone Radiation

By Ben Needles

The electromagnetic field (EMF) has been a natural part of the earth ever since the beginning of the universe and extends throughout all of space. It is a fundamental form of nature. The most familiar form of the electromagnetic field, to us, is found in sunlight. This electromagnetic field is actually the interaction of both an electric field, which is composed of stationary charges, and the magnetic field which consists of wave like currents.

What is most interesting about the electromagnetic field is that, not only does it exist as a natural phenomenon around us, but it is also produced by a large number of the technological advances we have made and that we now tend to take for granted. For example, the microwave oven that most of us heat food or warm the baby’s bottle in produces EMFs. Even your computer screen and your cell phone produce EMFs. Actually, there are many electrical devices in and around your home that produce EMFs. Electrical substations and power lines are other examples of EMF producers outside your home.

Because the amount of EMF exposure has increased, as a result of technological advancement, scientific studies indicate that too much exposure can have a negative impact on human health, specifically increasing the cancer susceptibility rate. Moreover, some studies seem to indicate that children living in close proximity to overhead power lines, in combination with their still developing immune system, are more likely to develop leukemia than children who don’t live near these power sources.

Additionally, due to the increase of EMF exposure there has also been a noted increase in miscarriages, birth defects, breast cancer, brain cancers, and Alzheimer’s disease, to note a few more of the potential hazards of EMF. EMFs have also been associated with an increase of chronic fatigue, depression, headaches, allergies and other environmental disease.

Here’s how EMFs work on the human body. EMFs reduce the pineal glands ability to produce melatonin, which is a hormone that has been medically proven to control circadian rhythms and mood. EMFs also inhibit the immune systems ability to protect the body from the formation of pre-cancerous cells. When the body’s immune system is compromised the body is more susceptible to contracting any number of antigens that it can’t naturally fight off.

Cell phones are also on the list of EMF producing devices. According to Australian Health Research Institute nearly one third of the worlds population is susceptible to some form of ear, eye, or brain cancer, not to mention that EMFs produced by cell phones also have the potential of causing other body disorders, such as epilepsy, heart problems, migraines, and more. EMFs are also produced by the transfer towers that assist in the signal transmission from cell phone to cell phone.

Because of the EMF threat to your health there are some things to keep in mind. First, reduce the amount of the use of your cell phone. If you are at home and have a land line, use the land line not the cell phone. Also, turn off the cell phone when you are not using it. When out and about keep your cell phone in a place other than a pocket over or near your heart. In addition, you should avoid living or working near transmission masts.
